Extar's News

It's been a while since I last uploaded anything on here. Two songs, one a cover of the theme from The Terminator, the other a new version of my song 'Warfare'. The Terminator theme started as a bass solo but I couldn't help but add another part to it to get some harmony action going. The new version of Warfare is longer, generally faster, more complicated and generally improved. As a special Brucie Bonus I've also uploaded a new version of Foreign Policy--I say 'new', I did this back in march but for one reason or another decided not to upload it.

Foreign Policy
Warfare has lyrics, which you can view here. Foreign Policy also has lyrics.
Both songs are available on my website as higher quality MP3s.

I've been busy recording lately. I've done two songs. The first one is called Deathquake and is a collaboration with Gorebastard. The second one is a Genuine Extar Original(tm) called The Gates of Violence.
Deathquake
The Gates of Violence
Deathquake is basically some Quake themed vocals which I sung over the top of Gorebastard's excellent They Want Your Flesh.
The Gates of Violence was originally going to be for the lyrics I used on Deathquake until I realised they didn't fit into the song and it'd be cooler to come up with some new ones. It's sort of Mad Max/Fallout themed with a bit of Dwarf Fortress thrown in there too because it's cool.
Here are some links from my own website, upon which I store higher quality MP3s (usually 320kbit) of my songs and the accompanying lyrics sheets where necessary.

The Gates of Violence - MP3 - Lyrics
Enjoy all those bloody links.

I have another new song for you to listen to. This one is called 'Waiting 'Neath The Moon'.
This song is the culmination of a bunch of good ideas I've been having for a while which I only managed to bring together. I reached the eight minute barrier without having to resort to needless padding which I'm pleased about. Though you could say I sort of cheated seeing as a good two and half minutes are made up with the outro which you might recognise from somewhere before.
I changed the song name from Sacrifice because I thought a name like that could quite easily get lost on here and I needed something more distinctive.
Anyway, enjoy my song and ponder the lyrics at your own risk.

Another new song has arrived. This one was the result of writing down my thoughts on internet idiots and then thinking how cool the Stargate Atlantis advert is (better than the show, at least). The result is as close as I'm going to come to geek-core rape. There are lyrics available on my website (which is where everything I make goes and where I recomend you to go RIGHT NOW). This song is called 'STFU' but someone on the Portal unsurprisingly already had it, so on the Portal I've called it 'Noobish Ways'. Enjoy,

Seeing as I've got nothing better to stick up here, I thought I'd post a more in-depth description of my new song along with a link to the higher quality version on my website.
(Update: The version on my site has had some tinkering done to the mix and levels and so should be slightly better than the version on here, sound quality aside.)

The song is called 'The Darkness Beneath' as I'm sure you may have gathered from the title of the update. It's a six and a half minute instrumental, which is precisely the sort of song which I think is lacking from most metal band's repetoire. The song was inspired by old school Metallica and thrash in general as well as the usual fantasy/horror stuff. So it was business as usual on the inspiration front. I recorded the song in one go, building it up from loops and arranging it as I went along, which is the way I recorded two of my previous instrumentals Tristram and Oberon, which are in a similar vein to this new one.
So without further ado here's the link to the new song.

Before posting your review consider the following:

-Am I a retarded dickhead?
-Do I have anything important to say?
-Do I have even a basic grasp of english?
-Do I intend to use the 'word' lol?

If you can answer no to any of these questions then post away! Your thoughts count! Don't worry about all that other complicated stuff, you'll fit right in!

You're all idiots and I hate you

I've finally got round to doing something audio-based again, I like to call it music but you may think otherwise. I'd post it on NG for all of you to enjoy (that would actually be around three people) but there are various factors making it unwise to post here:
-The song is 6 minutes long. The stupid, arbitrary 4MB limit on audio submissions means I would either have to carve bits out of the song to bring the running time down, or post the file in a ridiculously poor quality MP3. Neither are great solutions
-I don't particularly like being told by fourteen year old twats that my singing is shit, that I'm not as good a guitar player as Kirk Hammet or that they don't actually like heavy metal music, all coming to the same conclusion that my song is shit. Really, my self-esteem doesn't need that kind of a battering every time I put stuff on here, also they're all completely wrong.
The three people who would actually like to hear my music can go on my website or follow this link.
Extar - The Thing That Should Not Be

I'll now go into the mind-set of one of the over-opinionated, idiotic teenagers who hang around on this site. Lol.
-It's a cover. How shit, this guy clearly has no creativity.
-Lol, this guy has bothered to put vocals on, that's so gay and shit.
-He didn't perfectly emulate Kirk Hammet's solo lol. Loser.
-It's a Metallica tune! Metallica are gay sell-outs/Metallica are the only metal band I've heard! This song is shit, he never should even attempt to touch such garbage/genius.
-Man, it's hard writing a review lol.
-Add additional lols to show my intellect and understanding.
-ZERO VOTEN!

<bitching><whining><complaining>
This new layout brings some welcome changes. At least the audio page isn't as fucking redundant and ignored as it once was. However, maybe it's just me or perhaps they haven't implemented it yet but I can't view my audio submissions from the link on the My Account page. Anyone know anything more about this? Anyway, that totally blows as not only has NG being a total retard in deeming some of my shorter songs to be 'loops' (I felt truly violated) but I still can't remove some of my older songs which I'm sure everyone would rather see the back of. Oh and I don't believe in graphics>functionality which seems to have been the mantra when they were making this new design. One more reason to hate NG I guess.

This post blog thing is cool I guess.
